创伤后应激障碍（PTSD）

许多研究调查了催眠治疗创伤后应激障碍（PTSD）和急性应激障碍（ASD, Acute Stress Disorder）的效果。迄今为止，证据比较模糊。使用了催眠的个案研究表明了很好的疗效，但别的研究并没有显示出相同水平的疗效。

目前针对PTSD的循证治疗包括：以创伤为重点的行为认知疗法（TF-CBT, Trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy）、眼动脱敏与再处理（EMDR, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing）。有趣的是，一些常用的CBT治疗PTSD的技术（例如，重拾创伤记忆、成人自己安慰小孩的自己having an adult “self” comfort a “child self”）起源于催眠技术。CBT技术带来的好处是理解创伤个体的概念框架（conceptual framework）；催眠给PTSD治疗带来的好处包括：安全感/ 情绪调节、重拾记忆的框架和技术。
